Located near a sea turtle hatchery, which we will visit during the retreat, the property is right on the sea front with a reef protected beach outside that offers a fascinating world for those wishing to explore the rock pools for tropical fish, crabs and shells. A short stroll to the left takes you to a protected swimming lagoon and a five-minute tuk-tuk ride in the other direction finds you at the main Thalpe Beach.
For those wanting to explore, there is plenty to discover. You can hire a bike and cycle through the local paddy fields and rainforest, visiting temples and tea plantations along the way. There are boat trips on nearby Koggala Lake where you can visit small islands and secret coves. And the UNESCO World Heritage site of Galle Fort is only a twenty minutes tuk- tuk ride away. Losing yourself in the Fort’s labyrinth of old streets is a wonderful way to spend a day.
For the more adventurous, there is whale watching, surfing and scuba diving all in close proximity.
Our intuitive and experienced yoga teacher for this retreat; Clive Fogelman, will provide us with inspiring yoga classes twice daily and offer a variety of styles, including; Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Yin and Restorative Yoga with meditation. Through flowing sequences and restorative postures (with variations for all levels of practice) Clive will guide you in cultivating an intuition for what your body needs while building strength, creating flexibility and letting go of stress. To get a flavour for Clive’s style of teaching check out some of his videos.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Based in London, Clive Fogelman has a creative and open-minded approach to yoga and meditation, influenced by his therapeutic work and sporting background. He encourages people to cultivate intuition within their bodies, mindful that all individuals are different and continually evolving.
His tailored yoga classes emphasise linking breath and movement to direct attention inward and become more aware of each moment and the unique nature of our own body. Drawing on the parallels between yoga and life, the mat becomes an opportunity for exploration and transformation.
Clive teaches vinyasa flow, restorative and yin yoga, always offering variations for all levels. His meditation classes include guided visualisations, breathing techniques and often integrate poetry.

WHAT TO BRING
We recommend bringing slip on shoes or sandals, hiking shoes or sensible outdoor footwear, sunglasses, sun cream, mosquito repellent, a bathing suit, a sun hat and a waterproof coat.
The yoga classes will take place in a wonderful bright yoga space inside the beach house. We provide all yoga equipment but if you’d rather use your own mat you are welcome to bring it with you.
We recommend you wear reef shoes while exploring the shore and there is a selection available for you to borrow.
