Relax in paradise in an incredibly beautiful beach house on the south coast of Sri Lanka. Located near a sea turtle hatchery, which we will visit during the retreat, the property is right on the sea front with a reef protected beach outside that offers a fascinating world for those wishing to explore the rock pools for tropical fish, crabs and shells. A short stroll to the left takes you to a swimming lagoon and a five-minute tuk-tuk ride in the other direction finds you at the main Thalpe Beach.
On this retreat we have included an optional whale watching tour, on a private boat. It’s an incredible opportunity to see these beautiful animals and other sealife.
For those wanting to explore, there is plenty to discover. You can hire a bike and cycle through the local paddy fields and rainforest, visiting temples and tea plantations along the way. There are boat trips on nearby Koggala Lake where you can visit small islands and secret coves. And the UNESCO World Heritage site of Galle Fort is only a twenty minutes tuk- tuk ride away. Losing yourself in the Fort’s labyrinth of old streets is a great way to spend a day.
For the more adventurous, there is the option of booking a day on safari (leaving very early in the morning as it is a long drive but well worth it). There is also surfing and scuba diving in very close proximity.
Your experienced and intuitive instructor for this retreat; Clive Fogelman, has a very creative and open-minded approach to yoga and meditation, welcoming people with all levels of experience. The morning classes will include a range of energising and grounding sequences integrating movement and holding postures designed to build strength, explore balance and expand flexibility. The evening classes will have a restorative, meditative and yin focus emphasising inner calm, relaxation and replenishment.
There will be variations and options for all levels of practice.
