Escape into the wild beauty of Sri Lanka’s hill country for a week of yoga, nature, incredible food and adventure at the beautiful Living Heritage Koslanda.
Hidden within 80 acres of forest, surrounded by tropical gardens, mountain views and lush jungle, with an infinity pool and its own private waterfall, this peaceful retreat feels a world away from everyday life.
Yoga will be at the heart of the week, with morning and evening practices led by the wonderful Jess Rose from our yoga pavilion above the jungle canopy. Mornings will be energising, with alignment based Vinyasa flow, creative sequences and opportunities to explore your strength and challenge yourself. Evenings will be slower and more restorative, combining gentle yoga, longer holds, breathwork and meditation.
Jess brings a wonderful sense of playfulness and humour to her teaching, creating classes that are inspiring and challenging without ever feeling intimidating. All sessions are suitable for different levels of experience, including those newer to yoga.
During the week we’ll explore the surrounding landscape with a local guide, discover Sri Lanka’s spectacular hill country, and enjoy plenty of time to swim beneath the waterfall, relax beside the infinity pool, wander through the gardens, enjoy an Ayurvedic treatment and soak up the incredible surroundings.

Much of the produce at Koslanda is grown organically on the property, including coffee, pepper, turmeric, spices, vegetables and fruit.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Your wonderful instructor for this retreat, Jess Rose, is a huge part of what makes this week so special.
Originally from Kansas City and based in Europe for more than a decade, Jess teaches workshops, retreats and teacher trainings around the world. She has also taught more than 50,000 students online through her yoga programmes.
Jess teaches alignment based Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, combining her knowledge of sustainable alignment and biomechanics with creative sequencing, thoughtful themes and a wonderful sense of playfulness and humour.
Throughout the week, mornings will begin with energising Vinyasa flow, opening up the body and breath through dynamic, creative sequences that challenge you without ever feeling aggressive. Evening practices will be slower and more restorative, combining gentle yoga, longer holds, deep breath work and meditation to release tension and encourage a sense of calm and stillness.
Jess’s teaching is inspiring, warm and joyful, helping you explore your own strength and potential while remembering the simple beauty of moving, breathing and being present.
The classes will be suitable for all levels, including those new to yoga.

SUSTAINABILITY
One of the things we love about Living Heritage Koslanda is its commitment to protecting the extraordinary landscape that surrounds it.
The retreat sits within 80 acres of rewilded forest, where more than 5,000 trees have been planted to help restore biodiversity and create habitat for local wildlife. Much of the food is grown organically on site, including coffee, pepper, turmeric, fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices.
The property has been built using largely natural, locally sourced materials and traditional Sri Lankan building techniques, employs people from the surrounding rural community and currently generates around 35% of its electricity through solar power.
EXPLORING SRI LANKA
There will be plenty of opportunity to explore beyond Koslanda during the week. We’ll walk through beautiful tea country, discover waterfalls and wild swimming spots and experience some of the spectacular landscapes of Sri Lanka’s hill country.
For those wanting to explore further, optional excursions include the famous hill country train to Ella, ancient temples and hidden shrines, village and paddy farming walks, birdwatching and sections of the beautiful Pekoe Trail.
WHAT TO BRING
We recommend bringing light, comfortable clothing, slip on shoes or sandals, good walking shoes, sunglasses, sun cream, mosquito repellent, a swimming costume and a sun hat.
As we’ll be in Sri Lanka’s hill country, it’s also worth bringing a light jumper or layer for cooler mornings and evenings, and a lightweight waterproof jacket.
All yoga equipment will be provided, but if you prefer to practise on your own mat, you’re very welcome to bring it with you.
